Imports and Exports in Brazil

Check out the testimony of our customer Chris, American who fell in love with Brazil and moved here. He opened the company Big Jump, a trampoline park, in Salvador-Ba. The equipment used at your company were all brought by HC Logistics. Below it tells, a little of that experience.

Importing and exporting in Brazil is a complicated process. The Port of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, is a deepwater port located in the Bay of All Saints, the oldest port in South America. We went down to the port to take a look inside and take a look at the process. We are opening a trampoline park with many components. There will be over 30 trampolines, a ninja course, climbing wall, foam pool, children's playground with a slide over the mezzanine. Two full containers of our trampoline equipment just arrived to this port. It was a long process, but here are some tips we learned about import in Brazil along the way.

1. Do your homework.

Find out which taxes apply to the type of products you are shipping, but plan to pay around 100% of fees and charges for your shipment.

2. Choosing a competent supplier who understands import / export processes is crucial.

We did our research. It was more economical to import trampolines into Brazil than to buy them in the country. Even with the high rates.

3. The three most important customs documents are Commercial Invoice, Packing List with material composition and Bill of Lading.

I cannot emphasize how important it is to ensure that these documents are correct.

4. Find a good freight forwarder.

A freight agent takes care of the shipment from the moment it arrives in port to its final destination. Before your containers reach the port, plan all the logistics. We have about 10 tons of equipment to get from the port to our park in Piata. There are many steps in the process, but a good freight agent will help you with all the details.

We use HC Logistica and are very happy with your services. HC Logística Importação e Exportacao LTDA. Address: Av. Luis Viana, 6462, Business Wall Street, Room 107, East Tower (A), Patamares - Paralela, Salvador - Bahia - Zip Code 41.680-400  http://www.hclogistica.com.br

The largest exports are petrochemicals and paper. There is a road dedicated exclusively to the transportation of petrochemical products from the refinery to the port. No cars are allowed on this road. There are about 300-400 paper containers that are shipped to China from this port every month. We were very impressed with how clean, organized and structured this port was. The staff were kind, skilled and polite. Everyone spoke English very well.

There are big plans to double the size of this port in the next 3-5 years.
